Upgrade or Buy New?

New computers are normally configured for home users and this configuration is less than ideal for use within a business. Reconfiguring your new desktop or laptop for business means;
  • Improved performance and reliability
  • Improved security
  • Install your business software
  • Install Antivirus Software
  • Remove non-business software (games, toolbars, trial software etc)
  • Implement a more suitable drive partition configuration
  • Configuring network resources such as shared folders and printers
  • Implementing a backup process

Case Study: Slow Running

While purchasing something in a shop and having to wait for the invoice to be printed, the manager mentioned they were going to buy a new PC as the current one had become to slow.

Upon further investigation it was evident that the PC had been upgraded to Windows 10 and was severely under powered for the Microsoft Office and Invoicing software they were running. The addition of a further 4Gb of RAM and the replacement of their existing Antivirus product resulted in a much faster machine and a substantial cash saving for the business.

Case Study: Disk Space

After adding two additional video security cameras to their network, a residents association were quoted over a thousand pounds by the original supplier to replace their existing server after it run out of video storage space.

greenwood-IT installed two additional 2Tb drives (RAID 1) and configured the video application to use this separate partition. This not only increased their video storage capacity but improved performance and makes for simpler data recovery if a hardware failure should occur in the future.
